A fixture of Brown University, the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology preserves and interprets a wide array of collections pertaining to human cultural heritage. Its 110,000 item collection contains an extensive Latin American photographic collection and a grouping of 69,000 North American archaeological artifacts. Past temporary exhibits have included "Dragon Bridge: Taoist Paintings of the Mien," a collection of Hopi Katsina Dolls, and "Packrats for Posterity," a display of specific methods and techniques used in anthropological study. The museum lies on the east side of town, near Mt. Hope Bay.
